About Peyton and Byrne Bakery
The Greenwich branch of Peyton and Byrne, a bakery café on Greenwich Church Street. Since 2018 it has been run by Modern British Bakeries, which kept the brand after the original company went into administration. It sells traditional British cakes, tarts and biscuits. Celebration and occasion cakes are a big part of the business, so ask about lead times for custom designs. Regulars tend to come back for handmade cakes, tarts and biscuits.
Peyton and Byrne Bakery has not published regular opening hours in the sources we use, so it is worth calling ahead or checking social media before a special trip. The Food Standards Agency register lists a hygiene rating of 5/5, awarded on 31 May 2025 by Greenwich.
Arriving by public transport? Head for Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich tram stop; from there it is a walk of about 2 minutes. It is not the only option nearby: there are 8 more bakeries within a kilometre, so a bakery crawl is easily done.
